“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

I recently finished reading The Alchemist again, it is a truly wonderful book and if you have not read it, I do suggest it. Never ceases to amaze me how every time I read that book, I get something new out of it or I notice something I did not notice before – or perhaps I did and I had forgotten, or perhaps I read it and I did not connect the dots like I did this time around.

The quote above is one that has always stood out to me time and time again when reading this book. However, this time around – it was a little different – it hit me a little differently.

I have been on a journey lately, I guess you can say I have been trying to find my personal legend. After reading this book, it made me really reflect and listen to the universe, to pay attention to the signs – the omens – the language of the world. You see if you pay attention, we are always being guided one way or another along our journey – the trouble is – we aren’t always paying attention.

That quote had been sitting in my mind and I had asked the universe for a sign. My mother sent me a message, as she usually does in the morning, but on that particular morning she said something to me that to be honest kind of blew me away. She said: “El Universo está conspirando a tu favor, confía ciegamente” which means “The universe is conspiring in your favor, trust blindly.” I had to call her and ask her if she had read The Alchemist, the coincidence was just unbelievable – but alas, she had not read the book.

The universe is listening, I thought to myself  and it was a magical moment.

I pulled some cards from the The Wild Unknown Pocket Archetypes Deck, The first card being “The Sustainer” which is all about tending to the tasks of life. The sustainer is at peace in the flow of life, in the everyday routines and what we would often refer to as mundane tasks of our day to day lives.

“The Medallion” is representative of a talisman, amulet, or material object. The oracle book explains that physical objects and materials hold consciousness. However, when I look at the card it gives me a feeling of reaching for something, reaching for something more.

“The Mirror” is all about self perception – how do you see yourself ? How do you talk about yourself?

With these three cards I get the feeling of maybe being stuck in a rut. Just going about your everyday routines and life, wanting something more, reaching for something more – but perhaps you are not sure if you can have it? Or on one level or another perhaps you may feel as though you are not worthy of it. Maybe you don’t even know quite what it is you want – but you feel as though something is missing.

The final card is “The Vessel” and the oracle book reads:

“When this card appears, it’s time to assess what is being “held together” and how. Is the vessel too tight? Too loose? Broken? Empty? Full? Or perhaps there is no vessel at all, and the contents spill in every direction. It is natural for structures to be formed and eventually fall apart. The vessel has a life cycle that must be honored. Is it time for you to build, break or repair? You must find out.”

I believe it is no coincidence that I started this reading by sharing my experience with the book The Alchemist and writing about the quote and about listening to the universe. It may not seem like it would fit together, but perhaps what the universe requests of you at this time – is to pay attention.

The universe will speak to you through your everyday life, every moment, every action – every mundane task has the potential for communication – if you are paying attention. So reach out to the universe through your heart, ask for a sign and listen to what it has to say, follow it.

The universe wants to have a connection with you, to show you the way through signs, synchronicities and omens. All you have to do on your part is be willing to open yourself to the possibilities and follow your heart – trust blindly – let go and give in.

I felt pulled to draw one more card and “Gnosis” came out, the oracle book reads:

“Gnosis points to the deep and timeless archetypal wisdom that rises from the felt experience of having touched the unknown with every one of the senses. Knowing is their calling. Not knowing is their job description. No matter how far the alchemists take their studies, they come to the ultimate conclusion that facts slip towards mystery and soon the mystery results in facts. This card signifies a “knowing” that is life changing. Once you experience it, you are forever changed and become a guardian of Gnosis. The eternal mystery is calling you …. Study your passion in the deepest way available to you.”

Trust that the universe is guiding you – always. I have no doubt that you are being divinely guided. Will you answer the call?
